KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan—Taiwanese theatergoers enjoyed Shen Yun Performing arts at the Chih-The Hall of the Kaohsiung Cultural Center on March 1, many saying the performance purified their hearts and souls.
“I enjoyed it very much! The dances really presented comprehensively the 5,000 years of Chinese culture, especially the ones from the Tang and Song Dynasties,” said Mr. Chen His-jung, the president of an Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital. “It’s really memorable.”
“The scenes on stage are like postcards. Each scene is breathtaking. If I can buy any painting like them, I definitely will hang them up at home,” he said. “They really made me very relaxed and refreshed. They have the power to change my mind. They are very beautiful.”
Shen Yun has a patented dynamic backdrop, which extends the stage and interacts with dancers from screen to stage. Mr. Chen called the backdrop “high-tech” and the dancers the best in the world.
The name “Shen Yun” indeed translates into the “beauty of divine beings dancing.”
Mr. Chen felt his heart and soul were cleaned by Shen Yun. His wife added: “Shen Yun is like a clear stream, which warmed the audience’s hearts and filled them with hope.”
Time Machine
“I felt like entered a time tunnel and traveled into history. Chinese cultures became alive and vivid,” said Mr. Liu Yen-fu, the chairman and CEO of an educational publishing company. “Shen Yun dancers don’t need any language. They expressed very rich feelings and meanings through their movements and facial expressions. This is very special.”“I will invite more people to attend Shen Yun if I have the chance,” he said. “It uses dances to express the contents and meanings of traditional Chinese culture, which is great!
Warmth and Kindness
“Every story in Shen Yun delivers kindness. These stories talked about different histories but always presented us that the right choice between virtue and vice is virtue. It encourages people to be kind,” said Ms. Hung Chia-hui, the secretary-general of the World Chinese Female Entrepreneurs Association.Ms. Hung said she was shocked by Shen Yun, which is “really spectacular! I felt the performance is amazing!”
“The costumes are very well designed. The colors are super gorgeous and very bright,” she said. “I personally love very much the Qing Dynasty’s female dance.”
“It was like bright lights shone onto us [audience members], and it felt like the work of divine beings. A very strong feeling,” she said.
Ms. Hung knows that Shen Yun puts on an all-new production, including new choreography, music, costumes, and backdrop sets every year.
“I attended Shen Yun last year, and really enjoyed it. So, this year, I invited five friends to attend together with me,” she said.
