NORTHAMPTON, U.K.—Some performances are timeless. They tell a story that doesn’t bend or change over time. Within that, Shen Yun Performing Arts seeks to portray unchanging beauty and compassion to audiences worldwide.

“It is uplifting. It’s telling a story of all through the different ages. And I just thought it was absolutely beautiful. I like the Chinese culture. Everybody should come and see this. It really is beautiful,” said Tracy Newman, an automotive quality engineer.

Shen Yun is based in New York and aims to revive 5,000 years of Chinese civilization. China was once known as the land of the divine. Everything present on stage draws from that divinity-inspired culture.

“I was bowled over. It’s so evocative and very uplifting. It is enchanting and enlightening. It’s beautiful,” said Ms. Newman.

Shen Yun puts on an all-new production every year. Every aspect of the performance—the choreography, the music compositions, the costumes, the backdrops—is newly crafted for each season.

“The production, the dancing, the performers, the whole stage, the effects—it’s incredible. It was an amazing evening. And I really, really appreciate all the effort that’s gone into it that can bring it all over the world. Fabulous. Love it,” said Ms. Newman.

Many of Shen Yun’s dances depict timeless values like loyalty, filial piety, and a strong belief in the divine. Both male and female dancers strive to bring every character they portray to life.

“I think I got quite emotional. I love the traditional female and the male dancers. It was just stunning. So thank you very much for having me. I loved it. Thank you,” said Ms. Newman.

Shen Yun is reviving Chinese culture, but it is unable to be performed in China.

“It’s very sad. They’re missing out,” commented Ms. Newman.

Since China became a communist nation, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has been abusing its power by taking away the basic human rights of its people. Shen Yun is using its art to raise awareness of the CCP’s crimes against humanity.

“I think it’s very relevant politically. And also, I think it is sending a message about China. I visited China and know the restrictions of China for the Chinese people,” said Ms. Newman.
