PRAGUE, Czech Republic—Jan Bezděk obtained a ticket to Shen Yun Performing Arts from his brother who was unable to attend, and Mr. Bezděk shared that his brother will definitely regret missing Shen Yun.

“It was really beautiful,” said Mr. Bezděk. He also complimented the dancers who “put on a beautiful performance and have my admiration.”

Shen Yun is based in New York, and its mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.

Mr. Bezděk shared that not all of the culture presented by Shen Yun was foreign to him.
“I must admit that as a young child I used to watch The Monkey King, still on black and white television. It was one of my favorite shows from my childhood, so I really liked and enjoyed The Monkey King dance story,” says Mr. Bezděk.

Mr. Bezděk’s ticket was originally a gift for his brother, but he ended up coming to the performance instead.

“I’m actually here by chance because it was a present for my brother, who unfortunately couldn’t come today, so I came ... and I honestly think my brother will regret it very much that he wasn’t here,” the director said.

Anna Briestenská, a surgeon, expressed her wish for Shen Yun’s continuous success.

“I wish for them to dance this beautifully all the time. This performance is perfection,” she said.

Shen Yun’s dancers are trained in classical Chinese dance, one of the most comprehensive dance systems in the world. Ms. Briestenská was impressed by the dancers’ uniformity and said they danced as one body.

“It’s like one person is dancing, and we are looking at that dancer through a kaleidoscope. A wonderful performance, really,” she praised.

Shen Yun’s use of its digital backdrop is patented technology. The backdrop allows each dance to switch scenes without the use of traditional, bulky sets.

“It was ... really shocking to me how they did it,” said Ms. Briestenská of the projection technology. Shen Yun’s website tells us that the backdrop “creates seamless interaction between projection and performers on stage—an invention so original it has its own patent.”
