Nur Misuari, leader of the Moro National Liberation Front, a group of Muslim rebels, has accepted a cease-fire on Saturday.

The Philippine city Zamboanga was attacked by the Liberation Front on Sunday and since then hundreds of hostages have been taken and at least nine people have been killed.

Misuari at one point claimed that he was not in charge of the rebel contingent but accepted a cease-fire on September 14. Philippine time is 12 hours ahead of the U.S. EDT time.

“The details of a peaceful settlement can be threshed out with a cease-fire in place,” Vice President Jejomar Binay said.
