Approximately 90 practitioners and their children of Falun Dafa (also known as Falun Gong) interacted with the community at the top of busy Queens St. Mall, Brisbane, to celebrate the 23rd World Falun Dafa Day on May 9, 2015. Many locals and visitors to the city experienced the opportunity to view the varied displays of the cultivation practice of Falun Gong over the past 23 years since Mr. Li Hongzhi brought the practice to the public in 1992. Exercises were continually displayed; photographic displays showed the journeys of practitioners, and information banners were held.
Hundreds of pamphlets of information about the cultivation practice of Falun Gong—its physical and heart/mind health benefits—plus information sheets on organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China, were handed to passers-by.
Many people signed the petition to the UN Human Rights High Commissioner calling for an immediate end of forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China.
The connection to the Australian SBS Dateline program, “Human Harvest: China’s Organ Trafficking” was given to people who had missed the recent online showing.
John Andress, spokesperson for Falun Dafa in Queensland, read out best wishes for the day from 31 Queensland politicians, and spoke about the persecution of practitioners in China since mid-July 1999 and how practitioners, that very moment, were still being arrested, incarcerated, beaten and tortured, and most notably, having their organs harvested while still alive. He spoke about the recent SBS Dateline program called “Human Harvest: China’s Organ Trafficking,” which detailed not only the heinous organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners in China, but also the devastation of the recipients of these organs when they learned the truth.
