Yes, yes, it’s about the beautiful game. But following the World Cup from New York also means a culinary foray into new destinations. From now until July 13, you can become an honorary (fill in the blank) citizen by rooting for the home team and quaffing the national brew. Try Zum Schneider in the East Village for 12 German beers on tap (as well as polka and samba), El Chivito d’Oro in Jackson Heights (Uruguayans are experts at grilling), or Sake Bar Hagi in Times Square for izakaya.

If standing elbow to elbow isn’t your style, hop on the PATH train to the 10,000 square feet at Zeppelin Hall in Jersey City, which will cook up a different national dish each day (German grilled bratwurst, Argentinian empanadas, and Japanese shrimp tempura, are all on the menu).
