A woman crashed her car into a government building in Waterbury, Connecticut, as she was in the middle of taking a driving test.

The accident took place at about 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3.

State police said the woman, identified as 46-year-old Joselle Victory, received a ticket for unsafe backing, according to the Hartford Courant.

Victory was undergoing her driver’s test in the parking lot of a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) building located at 2210 Thomaston Ave.

DMV officials said the woman sped up instead of braking in a parking spot, as she backed up and crashed through the window of the building.

She “was backing into a parking spot and accidentally pressed the acceleration pedal instead of the brake pedal,” Connecticut police said in a police report, according to the Hartford Courant.

According to NBC Connecticut, two customers inside the building suffered from minor injuries and one of them was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Surveillance footage shows startled customers jump out of the way as the vehicle suddenly veers inside.

The vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Prius plug-in, backed over a parking lot sign before crashing into the building, the Hartford Courant reported. The Toyota can be seen partially inside the building after it stopped.

Both the woman and the DMV inspector administering the test were not hurt in the accident, according to NBC.

One of the customers that got hit by the car, Kisha Monique Smoakes, 43, of Waterbury, was sent to St. Mary’s Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Another customer involved in the incident, Jevon Sandelin, 27, of Waterbury, also suffered from an injury that appeared to be minor, the Hartford Courant reported.

The landlord for the property soon closed up the window and dealt with the property damages.

DMV spokesman Bill Seymour told the newspaper that Victory failed the driving test.

DMV services on the day were not interrupted by the incident.
