NEW YORK--William Abreu and Juan Martinez sexually abused students at Progress High School for Professional Careers in Brooklyn, according to a new oversight report.

New York City’s Special Commissioner of Investigation’s office reported that Abreu and Martinez forcibly touched students inappropriately and threatened female students in attempts to try to have sex with them while they employed the students in their offices. Abreu also raped one of the students, a 17-year-old, and Martinez forced another student, then 16 years old, to perform oral sex on him.

In addition, Abreu stole $1,500 from one of the student’s mothers after telling her that he would get her an attorney to help with immigration services.

Abreu is an assistant principal at the high school and has been placed on leave without pay. The office recommends that he be fired and that the matters should be taken into account if he ever applies for another position with the Department of Education.

Martinez, who works at an after-school program, should be made ineligible for work and, likewise,  the matters should be taken into account if he ever applies for another position with the Department of Education, according to the office.
