The Wil Wheaton Project on SyFy wraps up season 1 on Tuesday, August 12 and fans are wondering whether it will be renewed.

Wheaton, actor and blogger, has had a number of guests on the show, where he discusses science fiction and entertainment.

“Each week, Wil provides his insider point-of-view, sense of humor and genre expertise as he dissects the week’s most popular and trending topics across science fiction film, television and pop culture, video games, viral videos and news,” said the initial announcement.

“Wil is on his feet for the rapid-fire half hour, delivering witty commentary on the things he knows and loves in this golden age of sci-pop culture. The result is a fun appreciation and celebration of fandom and all things science fiction.”

Wheaton said on his blog last week that he’s not sure whether the show will get renewed.

“We won’t know if Syfy is going to order more episodes for about 5 or 6 weeks,” he said, which would be in mid-September.

“We all need the break (it’s a lot of work to make this show, and I think it’s safe to say that we’re all feeling a little worn out), but I’m sad that we’re going to take the break now, when I finally feel like our show is firing on all cylinders.”

Ratings are hard to find for the show, which is usually a bad sign. But not necessarily.
