DRESDEN, Germany—Mr. and Mrs. Teng are both retired. They came from Shanghai to visit their daughter and son-in-law in Germany and to tour Europe. Fortunately, New York-based Shen Yun is also visiting Germany. On Monday, April 14, their German son-in-law drove 5 to 6 hours and took them to Dresden to see the Shen Yun show.

After the show was over, Mr. Teng praised the show. He said, “It is very enjoyable. Good pace between programs. It is really good to see our 5,000-year-old culture being spread, and the Westerners can gain an understanding of it. Through the Shen Yun performance, Chinese culture can be very well introduced.

“Shen Yun’s programs have unique qualities. They are very good from both the arts and music perspectives, and they are quite inspirational. It shows a kind of power.”

Mrs. Teng also thought that the show was very enjoyable. She found the costumes delicate. She thought there were many talented people in the company. “Now many talented people are abroad, and the majority of them do not want to go back home. It indicates that there is a problem in the social system in China: We do not have human rights in China.”

When Mrs. Teng spoke about programs related to Falun Gong, she lamented, “The persecution of Falun Gong has lasted ten years. People dare not even talk about this matter in China. But it is quite open in other countries. When we compare being at home and abroad, it is far more comfortable outside of China.

“One person passed out Falun Gong related flyers in our subdivision in China, then was found and arrested. The situation’s still pretty bad nowadays,” Mrs. Teng added.

At the end, both Mr. and Mrs. Teng expressed their heartfelt thanks for Shen Yun artists’ hard work and superb performance.
