Swiss Annual Hot Air Balloon Festival Brings Color to Alpine Sky

The Annual hot air balloon festival kicked off in the Swiss town of Chateau d'Oex on Saturday, for its 41st edition, bringing together 70 pilots from 15 different countries.

The festival created in 1979 features hot air balloons in special shapes, air displays, expositions, a night show, and other activities for families.

Chateau d'Oex and hot air balloons have had a long history together. In 1999, Bertrand Piccard and Brian Jones left from the Swiss town with the Breitling Orbiter to do the first tour of the world in a hot air balloon.
