Vet’s Ceiling Collapsed After Hurricane Harvey, He Wasn’t Prepared For What Happened Next
Ellison Joiner, 88-year-old Korean War veteran from Texas City, had to use a gas stove to stay warm after Hurricane Harvey caused his ceiling to cave.
The non-profit “Rolling Thunder” learned of Joiner’s predicament and decided to help. Multiple individuals and businesses rolled up their sleeves to do substantial renovations to Joiner’s house—free of charge, FOX 26 reported on Jan. 23.
“I’m Mr. Joiner’s family. He’s a veteran. He deserves all the help he can get for his service to our country,” said Gary Robinson, Rolling Thunder Chapter 2 president.
Joiner was moved by the effort.
“The is one of the greatest things that ever happened to me,” Joiner said, wiping away tears.
