TEHRAN—The head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said on Monday that he has documents linking the US and UK to the group responsible for Sunday’s bombing which killed over 40 people.

General Mohammad Ali Jafari said there would be reprisals against the US and UK for the six officers and at least 42 officials, ethnic leaders and bystanders killed in the explosion at a meeting in a sports hall in Sistan-Baluchistan Province, southeastern Iran.

“Behind this scene are the American and British intelligence apparatus, and there will have to be retaliatory measures to punish them,” he said.

The meeting in the town of Pishin was promoted as aiding ethnic unity.

Jundullah (“soldiers of God”), who say they are fighting for Sunni Muslim ethnic Baluchis, admitted to the attack but say the group has no connection with America or al-Qaeda.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad joined India and Afghanistan in condemning Pakistan for harbouring Jundullah.
