For this young woman in India, what started out as an ordinary day turned into one of the most harrowing experiences of her life during a trip to the train station.
Onlookers filmed the terrifying moment that the woman, trying to cross the train tracks instead of circling around to a safely designated walkway, ended up in the direct path of a goods train.
It feels like hours go by as the train rolls on over top of the last place anyone saw her body, and crowds gather on both sides of the tracks in anticipation of what they’re about to see.
Eventually, though, the train moves on—and laying as flat as can be, between the rails, is the woman.
Instead of remaining lifeless, though, she does something shocking. Turning to the crowds, she stands up and climbs to the edge of the tracks! From there, she is helped up, and you won’t believe how well she walks away from the incident.
The goods trains in India aren’t exactly light or slow, but they do provide just enough space between the underbelly of the cars and the space between the tracks for a small adult to lay in wait unharmed—if need be.
This woman isn’t the first person to get “run over” crossing the tracks; another—19-year-old Pratiksha Natekar, who didn’t hear a train coming due to headphones she wore—found herself suffering no more than a few facial scratches in the aftermath of her own horrifying incident.
