There is nothing more heartwarming than a special surprise from a family member you have not seen in a long time. There is so much emotion built up that their loved ones may even struggle to express their happiness.

A young man decided to reunite with his nearly 90-year-old grandfather after not seeing him for months. The man had moved from Wisconsin to Florida, and he missed his grandfather dearly.

“My whole life I’ve been extremely close with my Grandpa as he is the only role model that I’ve had,” he said, according to Newsflare.

Unfortunately, his grandfather’s sister recently passed away, and the young man decided to surprise his favorite person and make him feel better. He flew back home to secretly meet him at his favorite diner.

The young man posed as a waiter and served some coffee to the World War ll veteran and his family, who was recording the whole thing on camera.

The “waiter” casually started talking to the veteran. After some small talk, he asked his grandfather, “Well, you got room for one more?” The veteran smiled and said, “I’ll let you know.”

Throughout the entire conversation, the grandfather seemed perplexed that the waiter was still talking to him, and he obviously had no idea who he was.

The young man asked his grandfather, “You don’t recognize me?”

“No, I’m legally blind,” the grandfather responded.

Then the man told his grandfather that he should at least recognize his voice.

“You only talk to me a couple times on the phone every day,” he said.

“Oh for God’s sake,” the grandfather said with a smirk.

Everyone at the table started laughing, and the veteran reached over to grab his grandson’s hand. The surprised grandfather then covered his face, as he could not contain his joy.

“This is the first time that I have ever witnessed him show emotion,” said his grandson.

Apparently a surprise visit from a beloved relative can crack even the sternest of grandpas!
