Through Sunday, Aug. 27 Center Bar is celebrating the 20th-century American writer with a special menu of cocktails made with Dorothy Parker American Gin, all created by top female mixologists around the city. Some offerings include the Love, Dot, created by Brooke Baker of Dead Rabbit, featuring gin, Cocchi Americano Rosa, Bittermens Hiver Amer, vanilla syrup, blackberry syrup, lemon juice, and Burlesque Bitters; and the Know-It-All, created by Estelle Bossy of Del Posto, featuring gin, grapefruit juice, lime juice, Campari, Combier Liqueur de Rose, and saffron bitters. Sunday Supper at Tiny’s and The Bar Upstairs

Sunday, Aug. 27 This Tribeca restaurant is offering a three-course, prix-fixe Sunday supper, starting with a watermelon salad with smoked sea salt, lime, and arugula, proceeding to an entree of Southern-style barbecue ribs served with jalapeño cornbread, German potato salad, and Fuji apple slaw, and ending with a scoop of OddFellows vanilla bean ice cream. $35 per person. Panel on the Evolution of Ice Cream in America

Thursday, Aug. 31 Stella Parks, the author of the new cookbook “BraveTart: Iconic American Desserts,” will be chatting with Max Falkowitz of Saveur magazine at the Museum of Food and Drink about the history of ice cream parlors in New York City, particularly Brooklyn’s ice cream sandwiches and chocolate sprinkles.
