Every baby deserves a home to call their own.
Bobby, a chihuahua mix, was only 5 days old when his mother was tragically struck by a car and killed.
Bobby was orphaned, all by himself without any family.
The Michigan Humane Society knew that the puppy needed a mother’s love, and sooner rather than later given how young he was. Unfortunately, the shelter Bobby was in didn’t have any lactating dogs.
With time running out, the humane society decided to take a chance on something completely different: a cat named Gwen.
Gwen was a mother that had just given birth to a litter of kittens. The Society wanted to have Bobby live with the babies as if he was a kitten too. They wanted to see if they would accept him, and if Gwen would treat him as if he were one of her own.
It was a risk, given how cats and dogs are natural rivals, and mothers can get protective over their offspring. But it was worth a shot, as Bobby’s life was in danger without a nurturing mother.
Bobby quickly became part of Gwen’s family! He was more than happy to cuddle and nurse alongside her kittens.
Bobby fitted right in with his cat family!
Bobby looked so happy to be with a family that loves him. From appearances, you would’ve never guessed he wasn’t born into this family.
The amalgamated family was kept in foster care, until the babies were old enough to eat solid food, and then each find a forever home.
It’s horrible what happened to his mother, but at least Bobby was given a second chance at life.
