Many young girls fantasize about having a beautiful wedding just like in the fairy tales or movies. They imagine they have a big beautiful dress, big dance party, many bridesmaids, best food – the list goes on. That’s just written into our culture. It’s not different in other cultures, like the Eastern culture for example. Girls there also want to have a beautiful wedding ceremony. But since they come from another cultural circle they have a different picture of it.
Take for example the Indian culture. There is a custom called “sangeet” that is a part of the whole wedding ceremony. The word “sangeet” translates to “sung together” from Sanskrit. This custom traditionally takes place a few days prior to the main ceremony and consists of singing and dancing. And just like in the West the dances are being influenced by the popular culture – like for example the first dance often changes from a traditional waltz to a hip-hop dance, in India that happens too. But the young couple dance to the hits from their popular culture, which is of course Bollywood.
