A Brazilian man and his Patagonian penguin Din Din have been together through thick and thin.
Brazilian man Joao Pereira de Souza found the penguin in 2011 lying on the beach right in front of his house. The penguin was soaked in oil, so Souza decided to help him, cared for him and fed him sardines daily.
The penguin soon improved its strength and Souza was able to set him free on the beach.
To Souza’s, surprise the penguin didn’t want to leave. When Din Din finally left a few months later, Souza was amazed to see the penguin return only a few months after his departure.
Since then, the penguin has been visiting Souza annually, spending up to eight months of the year with him. Din Din spends the rest of his time off the coast of Chile and Argentin, which is breeding season.
