Nessie the dog isn’t like most dogs. In fact, she’s closer to a different kind of animal than a dog.

Due to the fact that she was born without her front legs, she’s referred to as a “kangaroo pup.”

And seeing the way she gets around, it’s pretty obvious why; she has to hop on her back two legs just to move.

Just chillin'

Despite her handicap, Nessie is still able to move around with much of the mobility of a regular dog; she can hop up onto high furniture like it’s nothing. And from one look at her, you can tell that she’s happy with her current living situation.

But this wasn’t always the case with her.

It took a while for Nessie to actually find a forever home.

Before she found a permanent home, she spent time at many different homes; she was actually returned to the same shelter on three separate occasions. Perhaps the owners didn’t know how much effort it would take to care for a dog like Nessie?

But after the three returns, she found a home with a new owner, and it looks like that she wouldn’t trade Nessie for the world.

“We weren’t actually looking for a dog, but I saw her come across my Facebook feed,” the owner told the Dodo. “I was like, ‘That’s my dog! She has to come home with us.'”

So, that’s exactly what happened.

Given that certain activities may be harder than usual for Nessie, the dog makes sure that her owner knows when she has to go out, or when she’s hungry. Even though Nessie is more effort to take care of than other dogs, her owner loves every second of it.

“While it has been challenging, it’s been extremely rewarding as well,” the owner said. “We are definitely better with her than we were before.”

With Nessie having both her own Facebook and Instagram pages, we can see her everyday activities.

And her family has found ways to make it easier for her to do these.

It seems like this home is the perfect one for Nessie, one that’ll give her not just the attention she needs, but the love she deserves.

This Little Dog Hops Like A Kangaroo

This dog hops like a kangaroo on her two back legs — and she uses them to launch herself from one piece of furniture to another!
