France is home to European history that goes back thousands of years. The Canal Saint-Martin in Paris is one of these locations that screams history.

Last year, it was time to drain the canal, for the first time in more than 15 years.

When crews first started cleaning, things popped up that you would expect to — garbage and plenty of empty wine bottles.

But as they kept looking, they found things that you would never expect to find in a body of water, and valuable things at that. Some are a part of the city’s history, and some are just plain bizarre.

The search became so popular that residents of Paris gathered around, awaiting what would come up next.

Watch the video to see what treasures, ancient or not, that the crew comes across.
