These two students’ utmost respect for the American flag in the pouring rain has won them much praise on social media. The two outstanding young boys from Florida have shown us the American spirit, truly commendable!
It was raining cats and dogs during a torrential rainstorm that swept through Coppergate Elementary School in Middleburg last week. However, the heavy downpour did not stop the two safety patrol officers, Isaac Davis and Nate Helmath, both 11 years old, from carrying out their flag obligation at dismissal time.
The boys quietly strode to the courtyard to bring down Old Glory amid pouring rain. On top of that, they stood in the wind and rain and calmly accomplished the 13 folds.
Next, Nate protected the flag before he solemnly walked away, in a very honorable way to call it a day.
“This is what RESPECT looks like at Coppergate,” wrote the school officials, on the varsity’s Facebook page. “We are so proud of Nate and Isaac for their responsibility, respect, devotion to duty, and love of country.”
Nate, whose parents served in the army, told FOX30 that it was “the respectful factor to do.”
Whilst Isaac said: “I really feel like we now have good folks in the nation and that we must always all be good.”
“They had been folding the flag reverently. They had been reverent. And they had been doing 13 folds … and you understand, our nation is in a bit little bit of turmoil … it simply struck me,” said the faculty’s media specialist, Kim Emikowski, who had captured the photos of the soaked duo.
“When they walked away they held it… cradled it to guard it. And it was only a second that was meant to be, I feel,” she added.
And netizens are most impressed, praising the boys for their dedication and respect for the American flag.
“We need more fine upstanding young gentlemen like Nate & Isaac! Thank You for protecting our Flag!” Facebook user Muriel Morris commented.
“Two Outstanding young men! Thank you Nate and Isaac for being true American Patriots! Thank you to your parents for raising two respectable young men. Thank you for your service. In these sad days we in America are living in, its beautiful to have seen this post… Continue setting an example! Tomorrow’s leaders….,” Claudia Magdalena wrote.
