Vintage rock ‘n’ roll bar The Black Rose opened in the East Village last week. The former Odessa space reuses reclaimed objects from its past incarnation, including recycled wood and metal. Think: relaxed backyard, JDs spinning classic rock on vinyl, artisanal spirits, and craft beers.
The head bartender is Ivo Diaz, previously bartender at The NoMad Bar, The NoMad restaurant, Eleven Madison Park, and XIV. Cocktails pay homage to rock ‘n’ roll history, with names like Light My Fire (Jim Beam Devil’s Cut Bourbon, apricot preserve, lemon), Hells Bells (Del Maguey Vida Mezcal, lime, agave, celery bitters).
Cocktails were developed by Jessy Peters (Bodega Negra at the Dream Hotel) and The Black Rose’s GM Ashley Poe.
Drop-in acoustic sets and themed nights are due to start soon. A food menu will be added in a few weeks.
