KC Goodwin was excited about attending a weekend retreat with friends, and to prepare she wanted to test a number of beauty products she had recently received from Amazon.
But while attempting to try one of the products she let out a scream that sent her husband, JW Goodwin, running to the bathroom.
KC wanted to try a new method to whiten her teeth.
Using activated charcoal to whiten your teeth is a fairly recent fad that has people smearing black powder all over their teeth in order to achieve those pearly whites you only ever see in a retouched photo.
While some dentists warn against using charcoal on your teeth, the mother of five from Alabama wanted to give it a try.
As she opened the container of charcoal there was an explosion.
She told WSFA that the “teeny-tiny tab was so hard to open and I pushed down to hard” and poof!
She let out a scream and her husband rushed to see what was the matter. As he got closer to the bathroom he heard his wife laughing and pulled out his phone.
Apparently whatever happened in the bathroom was hysterical and he wanted to make sure he got it on camera.
The charcoal worked, just not in the way it was supposed to.
KC stood in the bathroom covered in the jet black powder. The bathroom sink and the rug didn’t fair too well either.
JW asked his wife what happened and she was laughing so hard that she could barely form a sentence.
“Your teeth do look white,” he assured her.
The husband and wife couple could not stop laughing.
When you hear your wife screaming from upstairs saying she has had an accident you run up the stairs. When you get to your bathroom and hear her laughing, you have to pull your cell phone out because you know this is going to be funny. Heed the warning on the side of the charcoal powder teeth whitener. It says, “Open with care.”

Ironically, one of the couple’s children had recently gotten into trouble for a very similar accident.
Perhaps the Goodwins should shy away from charcoal powder from now on.
KC explained to WSFA that although she had a big mess to clean up, there was still plenty of product left for round two, of attempting to whiten her teeth that is.
