Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece and Denmark won’t turn 21 until July 25, but she already had her party. Early birthday presents must be one of the many perks of being part of the royal family of two countries!
Actually, there’s a very heartwarming reason the princess celebrated turning 21 early this year.
The party was celebrated a few weeks early because it was meant for both the princess and her father, Pavlos, Crown Prince of Greece, whose birthday is May 20. Dubbed the “5021,” combining the ages of the father and daughter, the party had a unique dress code. According to People, “guests were told to ‘revolutionize’ their black tie ensembles for the party.”
Hosted within the Cotswolds region of England, Princess Maria-Olympia had many celebrities and socialites around to wish her their good tidings, including Poppy Delevingne, Paris and Nicky Hilton, and her cousin, Princess Talita von Furstenberg. The atmosphere was said to be filled with candles, macaroons, and, of course, cake.
With all the sights to see, the highlight of the day was a speech!
One of the most memorable parts of the event was a speech the crown-prince gave in honor of his daughter. According to Teen Vouge, he said, “In your life, you have done a lot of things that impressed, depressed, and driven us crazy…you’re beautiful, you’re full of energy — energy that comes from your mother.”
