It’s hard to imagine how anyone can just leave their dog at the beach and never come back—but that’s exactly what happened to sweet-tempered pit bull Remi one day in Southern California.
Despite easy mannerisms and a laid-back personality, Remi was abandoned at the sand dunes.
Heartbroken and unwilling to believe that her owner wasn’t coming back, the pit sat atop the dunes for weeks and cried—but gradually lost trust in the beachgoers that didn’t know what to do with her.
Then, a passerby called the southern California animal rescue organization Hope For Paws—and Remi’s luck started to turn around.
It wasn’t an easy rescue, as the distraught dog didn’t want to go anywhere with Hope For Paws owner Eldad Hagar or his volunteers, Jackie Artecona and Joan Scoccimarro.
Eventually, though, they were able to convince her that they were there to do no harm—and she slowly but surely went to them, warming up not long after and even snuggling up with Hagar on the drive home.
There, it became immediately apparent that the dog didn’t have a mean bone in her body.
After she was cleaned and fed, though, it was time to start taking a look for a new forever home.
Luckily, as you’ll see here, that forever home was a lot closer than Remi had expected! Something tells us that the mild-mannered pup is having a ton of fun in her new home with her new pit bull sister Ginger.
