Out of the countless childbirth photos, this birth photographer from Austin, Texas, has captured a photo of a dad holding his precious daughter, which tugged at the heartstrings of many.
“This is a story about a mom and a dad who went through loss and persistence to get their baby,” wrote photographer Leilani Rogers, on her Facebook page.
The dad, Hunter, and his wife, Hope Madden, had struggled for years to have a baby. Hope had gone through nine fertility treatment cycles and three miscarriages.
During the third miscarriage, the couple had even named their little baby boy “Owen.” Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse. They were told Owen had no heartbeat during the first sonogram session.
“This was our third loss, as I had two chemical pregnancies previously,” she told The Huffington Post.
This time around, when Hope was pregnant with Evelyn, the couple had hoped for the best, but also prepared for the worst. They were afraid their joy would turn into a nightmare once more.
“Losing our son was very hard on both of us,” Hunter Madden told TODAY. “It was just such a gut punch … I think one of the worst things to come from losing Owen, other than his loss, was the way I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop with our daughter.”
But then, Hope successfully gave birth to a beautiful daughter on March 11, 2017.
After going through a grueling journey to conceive, the birth of their daughter, Evelyn, was truly a blessing. They felt incredibly blessed with the arrival of Evelyn, their little precious baby! You could imagine their joy, happiness, and relief. Evelyn is a rainbow baby whom they dearly cherish.
All their happiness and relief can be clearly seen in the moving photos, snapped by Leilani. Especially the one that captured Hunter’s genuine display of emotions when he held Evelyn close to his chest, next to a tattoo, which was done in remembrance of his lost son.
“That tattoo on his chest was done after their first miscarriage, and now his daughter lies her sweet head against it. Both of them a reminder of triumph,” wrote Leilani.
The touching photo shows Hunter obviously moved to tears!
“I could not believe I was allowed to hold something so perfect, and I was overwhelmed with thanksgiving for finally getting to be a father,” Hunter told TODAY.
Life is so precious, and the birth of a child is a joy to behold—full of hope, blessing, and happiness. We should appreciate these little precious lives, and never take them for granted.
