The homeless man responds by doing that right thing and telling the man, but when they follow him after giving him some reward money, they can't believe what he spends it on

It’s important to remember that everyone has a different life path. Depending on what we go through, we should always try to be good people, no matter what our circumstances are.

And YouTuber Waqas Shah wanted to test this concept out.

He went to Union Square in New York City to conduct a social experiment that would test the character of the people around him.

Shah “accidentally” dropped a wallet with $2,000 on the sidewalk to see what others nearby would do.

It does seem risky to do that in public, but Shah trusted that someone would do the right thing.

He dropped the wallet right in front of a man who looked homeless, who saw it almost immediately.

The man picked it up and looked at the wallet, and he called Shah back before he got too far.

It was at this point when Shah told the man the real situation that was going on. The man’s name was Jay, and though he was homeless, he pointed out that giving the wallet back was the right thing to do.

Shah thanked him, and he rewarded Jay with a decent amount of money.

One can imagine what a person down on their luck would do if they instantly acquired a lot of money.

But no one could’ve predicted what the man did next.

The camera person and Shah followed Jay around to see what he was going to do with the money. And the video showed him going into stores to buy something that would help out others around him.

Jay used the money to buy food for other homeless people.

Jay could’ve easily spent every single dime on himself, but this showed he clearly wanted to give back. And that’s exactly what he said when Shah approached him once more to ask about his actions.

“I feel like giving back is the thing to do,” Jay told Waqas. “The more you give, the more you get.”

At this point, Jay even revealed that he was a veteran and had a pregnant wife, and Shah gave him some more money, both as a reward and as a way to provide for his wife.

And the two sealed it with a hug.

We shouldn’t judge someone’s character based on the life position they’re in. You never know what someone could be going through, and we shouldn’t shun them if they happen to be down on their luck.

Jay is a prime example of someone who will put others first, and hopefully, this money can help Jay get back on his feet to take care of his wife and child.
