Young kids have a huge level of attachment to their parents. When a parent goes off to work for a few hours, they often treat it as if they’re going away forever.
So, when 3-year-old Bella found out that her dad was going to work, she thought up a clever strategy to prevent him from leaving: performing an impromptu song for him on ukulele.
While the song was never explicitly given a title, the phrase “I’m crying for Daddy” is used frequently throughout. Below are the lyrics:
I’m crying for daddy
I get hugs
I get kisses
I get hugs and I’m sad
I’m sad and daddy’s going
Daddy’s going to work…”
As Bella sings, her dad can’t help but laugh. She pauses for a few seconds and he thinks she’s done for the song but then she goes right back into it. She first repeats the first verse and then the phrase “I’m crying for daddy” 4 times before going into a brand new verse.
“Daddy went to work (x2)
Daddy went to work very hard
Daddy went to work
Went to buy stuff for Bella
I love you, daddy (x2)…”
That last line prompted an “Oh, I love you too” from her father. She ended the song singing “I cry for daddy” twice. Her dad commented, “I love the song.”
While Bella’s song may be a little rough around the edges, it’s worth noting that she is only a toddler. She seems to have a bright future in music which is sure to make her daddy very proud.
