It can be heartbreaking to see just how scared pets can become when separated from their loving homes.
The Hope For Paws rescue organization in Southern California documented this in devastating real time when they shared the video of a recent rescue conducted by the side of the road, proving just how quickly an animal can grow to fear their surroundings when they get lost.
Allison Dunbar was driving when she saw a tiny dog shaking in fear under a parked car on the side of the road.
She pulled over and attempted to coax her out from under the vehicle, but nothing seemed to be working so she called Hope For Paws rescue team for help.
The process to get the terrified pup out from under the massive machine was lengthy, tedious, and nerve-wracking at times.
When the dog didn’t seem interested in food, her rescuers tried approaching from different angles, but ultimately brought a giant gate to surround the vehicle in case the shaking animal attempted to bolt into oncoming traffic.
From there, they were eventually able to convince the pup to crawl out and into loving arms, but the real rescue came minutes later—when they realized that she had been microchipped, enabling them to contact her owner Dave.
After a car had struck his other dog while out on a walk, Dave had lost the tiny, furry pup—now known to be named Luna—in the chaos and confusion. He’d been looking for her for days, all the while unknowing that she was equally upset and lost.
Thanks to the microchip and these kind rescuers, though, there’s a happy ending to be had!
