Brennan Agranoff is a color blind 17-year-old who also happens to be the founder and CEO of HoopsSwagg, a custom-design online sock business that he operates out of his home—and it’s turned out to be an incredibly successful venture for the young man.

“I bought a pair of something like these socks awhile ago and I really liked them,” explained Agranoff. When he saw that the print quality was not great, he said “I just thought I could make them better.”

Brennan says he came up with the concept when he attended a high school basketball game at the age of 13. After six months of researching how to start a business, he was off and running with HoopSwagg! Now, he gets around 100 new sock orders each day.

“I started making one brand of sock, but then I got in contact with a manufacturer in China, and over a two-year period we came up with my own branded sock style that’s better quality as well easier to print on,” said Brennan, “and the customers like it better and we cut the retail cost by about 50%.”

Customers can choose from over 500 possible designs—all created by Brennan himself. The designs are unique and very cool. Some of those designs include pictures of his family-owned goats, a galaxy theme, melting ice cream cones, and the carpet design from Portland airport.

His socks are shipped all over the world daily, and at a price of $14.99 per pair, they won’t break the bank. So far, he has sold over $1 million worth of socks already, and it’s keeping him and his hired help plenty busy. Still in high school, he returns home every day to do chores and then get down to business—literally.

Brennan said, “What I enjoy most about having my own business is that I get to work my own hours and I enjoy the graphic designing because I can express myself in that way,” Brennan said, “and I know the story that is behind every design and what inspired me to create it.”
