Hole in the Wall Sets Up Shop in Financial District

Hole in the Wall isn’t such a, well, hole in the wall anymore, now that it’s expanding to a second, larger outpost in the Financial District, with an outdoor area in warm weather.

The 1,000-square-foot, 50-plus seat restaurant offers an all-day modern Australian menu, with brunch dishes, evening snacks, and cold pressed juices. Aussie chef Mimi Baines from Melbourne, who came in fourth in Australia’s most recent season of “MasterChef,” has worked on the brunch menu, which includes classics such as avocado smash (this version has miso butter and radish) and acai bowls, and her signature dishes, such as housemade ice cream and homemade Tim Tams (those chocolate cookies every Australian expat seems to pine for). Espresso-infused cocktails are a highlight on the drinks menu.

Open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m.
