Local firefighters do all sorts of services for their communities, from putting out burning houses to rescuing people from accidents to saving cats from trees.
But a group of firefighters from upstate New York can add another duty to their job description after making an unexpected second stop on a recent assignment.
On Saturday, June 23, the Henrietta Fire District got a call about a local vehicle accident. Engine 642 responded and arrived on the scene.
While it doesn’t seem like there were any very serious injuries, one of the drivers was cared for and loaded into an ambulance.
As he was being taken care of, the firefighters learned what he was doing: he was a pizza driver out making a delivery.
There was a still-intact pizza in the damaged car that would never reach its destination—or so it seemed. But the firefighters, with their job on the scene complete, decided to make another stop:
They delivered the pizza!
It turns out the delivery was just down the road, and rather than let the food go to waste, they decided to complete the order.
When the presumably surprised customer opened the door to see a firefighter delivering his pizza, the new delivery man made a few jokes.
“[He] thanked the customer for deciding to order out and not risk burning food and setting off the fire alarm!” the Henrietta Fire District posted on Facebook.
It was a task beyond the line of duty, to say the least. If these firefighters ever decide to switch careers, they’d be a good fit for Domino’s.
With those sirens, you can bet your delivery will be there in 30 minutes or less.
