When we see a dog roaming around with a collar on but no owner in sight, we typically assume that they’re lost. Usually, our first instinct is to go up and check their collar for a name or phone number and help them return home safely.

One teen came across this adorable dog wandering around alone and wanted to return it to its owner.

Just look at that smile! How could you not stop to pet him?

Worried he was lost, the teen immediately checked his collar for a name or phone number.

But to her surprise, she found a message instead.

My name is Cash, I am very social, I like to roam, But please…

That’s not all! The message continued on the back…

The teen, Liliana, immediately shared the charming—albeit unusual—encounter on Twitter. Her post has since gained over 5,000 likes and nearly 2,000 retweets.

It turns out that dogs like Cash enjoy wandering around by themselves, and they’re more common than you’d think.

Kentucky resident Nolyn Wilson was at a gas station when he noticed a yellow lab hanging around.

Seeing no owner nearby, Wilson went up to pet the seemingly lost pup and checked it’s collar.

Like Cash, Dew has an adventurous streak!

After giving Dew a few more pats, Wilson sent him on his way.

As it turns out, Dew belongs to a local farm and is somewhat of a celebrity in the area—he loves to wander around, and he’s known for his friendliness.

Wilson’s tweet currently has over 300,000 likes and 100,000 shares!
