Most of us have heard of “Take Your Daughter to Work Day,” but did you know there is a similar work-related holiday for our beloved four-legged friends? That’s right!

Take Your Dog to Work Day” will soon be upon us, on Friday, June 23!

Developed by Pet Sitters International, the “howliday” first began in 1999, and it is hoped that the event “encourages employers to experience the joys of pets in the workplace for one day to support their local pet community.” As companies are not required to register in order to participate, PSI is not entirely sure how many companies are involved, but current estimates are around 300.

If you would like to bring your dog to work, it’s always a good idea to call ahead to make sure it will be welcome.

Some notable businesses are getting in on the fun, like Einstein Bros, who are giving away free doggie bagels. According to WKYC, “We recognize the unconditional love that our pet-loving customers have for their furry friends, and with free doggie bagels at stake, we’re sure Tuesdays will become a day to bark about!,” Kerry Coyne, SVP of Marketing, R&D, and catering at Einstein Bros, stated in a press release.

For the cat lovers out there, traditionally, they are also included in the organization’s “Take Your Pet to Work Week,” which already started June 19.

In addition to cats, pet owners are encouraged to take all kinds of pets to work, including pigs!
