"So after today we would like to cancel Calli's walks ... until I land a new gig. We will keep you guys updated and let you know when we are ready to start them back up again."

What would you consider examples of good customer service?  Getting work done quickly? Greeting you with a smile? Taking a few dollars off your bill?

These are all nice things for sure, but none of them really go above and beyond the call of duty.

Jonathan Miller, on the other hand, knows how to please his customers. What he did for one of his customers was so nice that Reddit just couldn’t get enough of the story.

When a Reddit user got laid off, their dog walker offered his services for free.

On June 14, Reddit user bigmouthstrikesaga1n shared a story with the site about an incredible act of kindness performed by Miller, founder of the Miller’s Menagerie dog walking service in San Francisco, California.

The user had relied on Miller to walk their dog Calli for some time. Yet, when “bigmouth” was laid off from a job, they needed to cut expenses.

Like it or not, bigmouth knew that Calli’s walks were a luxury they could no longer afford.

“Hey guys,” they reluctantly texted Miller. “I unfortunately just found out I was laid off from my job today.”

“So after today we would like to cancel Calli’s walks … until I land a new gig. We will keep you guys updated and let you know when we are ready to start them back up again.”

“Oh no!!!” Miller texted back. “I’m sorry to hear that. Calli always has a spot with us.”

A big Millers Menagerie welcome to Calli, our newest friend. We can't wait for all the awesome pack bonding. 🐶Thanks to her parents Mallika and Zach!

They thanked Miller for agreeing to give Calli one final walk and didn’t hear anything back from Miller for hours. Then, around 8 p.m., they received a surprise message.

“Do you mind if we take Calli for the rest of the week?” Miller asked. “Free of course while you’re job hunting.”

As it turned out, Miller’s crew had to head to that neighborhood anyway to assist other customers. Stopping by and walking Calli would be easy for them to accommodate, plus they loved Calli.

Thrilled by the offer, bigmouth of course took Miller up on it.

On Reddit, the story received over 82,000 upvotes and hundreds of supportive comments.

Miller is a class act!

Not many dog walkers would be willing to do what Miller did for this customer. That’s true service right there!

If you and pooch ever find your way to San Francisco, be sure to hit Miller up for walks.
