It can be quite scary when an unexpected stranger enters your house and makes themselves at home, even when they’re adorable pets! That said, sometimes you can easily tell when these strangers are friendly and harmless. Here’s a story when such an unexpected, unfamiliar houseguest turned out to be both friendly and funny.

But why was he so sleepy?

A woman noticed that an old dog kept coming into her yard to take a nap. While her first instinct was that the dog was a stray who needed a home, she noticed that the dog appeared to be well-fed, was sociable, and was ultimately in good shape, suggesting he already had a family. The dog would also follow her into the house to take a nap on the floor, suggesting that he was used to sleeping in a house. The final clue is that he wore a nice collar.

After finishing his nap, he would get up and leave, but each following day, he would be back again, like clockwork.

Then she had an idea!

Deciding that she would finally figure out what was going on, she placed a note into the dog’s collar.

“I would like to find out who the owner of this wonderful sweet dog is,” she wrote, “and ask if you are aware that almost every afternoon your dog comes to my house for a nap.”

The dog came back the next day, with a note explaining everything. According to So Share This, the note read, “He lives in a home with 6 children, 2 under the age of 3.”

“He’s trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?”

After all, dogs are part of the family…even man’s best friend can get tired out having to play with the children!
