Anyone who has had a baby knows that quieting a fussy newborn is an incredibly difficult task. It seems like no matter how many tricks to get your baby to fall asleep you try, the trick either doesn’t work or it works but only for a few moments. Even though these “life hacks” are supposed to make life easier, sometimes going with what’s worked for generations before is your best option.
Watch this dad use a “trick” that has been around for generations, then steal his tips and try it on your own kid.
To start off, the man takes his fussy five-day-old daughter and lays her on top of a square swaddling blanket that has one of its corners folded down.
And he’s done! Just kidding. His little princess stopped crying as soon as she was placed on top of the blanket, but that only lasted a few seconds.
Next he tucks the baby’s arm down at her side, pulls the same side of the blanket over her body and then tucks her in.
He then proceeds to take the excess blanket and folds it up and under her opposite shoulder.
He repeats the same steps on the opposite side and voila! His daughter stops crying.
He makes sure to say that not every baby is the same, so some may need a little extra attention after they’ve been swaddled.
So, once he has her snug as a bug and looking like a baby burrito, he cradles her and softly whispers “shhh” in her ear. If only it were that easy all the time.
