Get ready for a heartwarming story that will remind you that there are still compassionate people out there who would never hesitate to help others, no matter how difficult the situation may be.
Tisha and Audrey were typical neighbors; they knew each other but just in a friendly neighborly way. However, there was one thing they had in common—they were both mothers.
Audrey was a single mother of three, while Tisha lived with her husband Kevin Beauchmin and their five children. Tisha and Audrey’s kids were close to the same age and would often play with each other, including the occasional sleepover.
So one day, when Audrey asked Tisha if her three kids could spend the night, there was no hesitation.
Audrey had been feeling increasingly unwell and had a doctors appointment the next morning to undergo some tests.
Those test results changed both their families forever.
Audrey was diagnosed with stage 2 esophageal and stomach cancer, and it was terminal. The doctors estimated Audrey had about a year to live, which she could use to get her affairs in order.
Unfortunately the estimate had been far too optimistic. Audrey’s situation quickly became dire as the cancer spread to her liver and kidneys. With time against her, she asked Tisha if her three kids could continue staying with her after she died. Tisha without hesitation said yes. There was no doubt in her mind.
“I had to go into a foster home, and I don’t want them to ever have to deal with anything I had to deal with when I was a child, because children deserve to be children” she later told FOX 5.
Then just two weeks after returning from the hospital, Audrey passed away.
Now with eight children, the Beauchmins were working hard to become foster parents so they could legally adopt Audrey’s three kids. But they faced a major problem—the state wouldn’t grant them permission to become foster parents because of their insufficient housing.
Their family had just been able to squeeze into their house, but now with three more members, it was more than just a tight fit. Their eldest son was sleeping on the living room couch, and their second eldest daughter was sleeping in a makeshift room in the kitchen.
However, little did they know the old house as they knew it would soon be no more. One of their neighbors tipped off Las Vegas’ Fox 5 Surprise Squad, who swooped in before Christmas. They didn’t just make the house according to regulation, they transformed it entirely, giving all the kids new beds and furniture, including building a wall!
