Krystal Berry and her friends went to Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park on April 12 to celebrate their recent graduation from nursing school in Ocala. But they weren’t expecting to witness a titanic clash of nature.
Berry and friends spotted a herd of horses at the park, including a mare and her foal. The herd’s stallion spotted the alligator at about the same time and Berry and her friends who were filming the whole scene. A gasp can be heard from the group as they witness the horse run at the gator to chase him away.
When that was not enough he took another run and stomped on the gator, causing the gator to swing open it’s huge jaw to try to chomp on the horse. That did it and and the gator crawled back into the bush away from the herd of horses.
Berry said she was “still shaking,” hours after the event. The animals didn’t show any signs of stress or bleeding according to Berry, who also asked park officials to check if they were harmed after the scuffle.
