90-year-old woman lives alone after son dies, asks neighbors to be her friend with tearful note
A nonagenarian woman recently started living alone after her son passed away.
In a tearful note, she asked her neighbors to be her friend.
"Would you consider to become my friend.I'm 90 years old- live alone. All my friends have passed away.I'm so lonesome…
The letter says: “Would you consider to become my friend. I’m 90 years old- live alone. All my friends have passed away. I’m so lonesome and scared. Please I pray for someone.”
It read in full:
“Would you consider to become my friend.
I’m 90 years old- live alone.
All my friends have passed away.
I’m so lonesome and scared.
Please I pray for someone.”
The following day, the recipient of the note, Marleen, baked cupcakes for her. “She’s such a sweet lady, and she was over the moon when we came over,” Marleen wrote of the woman, named Wanda. “I’m sure Wanda and I will have some great times,” she wrote.
UPDATE ON ELDERLY WOMAN WHO WANTED A FRIENDEarlier today I posted about how Marleen Brooks came home and found a note…
“Wanda said – ‘I hope you didn’t think I was stupid for writing you, but I had to do something. Thank you so much for coming over. I’ve lived here for 50 years and don’t know any of my neighbors,’” she added, noting how separated people are in 21st century North Amerca.
Marleen shared her story with KTVU reporter Frank Somerville.
