The U.K. ambassador to Yemen escaped an attack by a suicide bomber who blew himself up close to the ambassador’s convoy while he was being driven to the embassy in Yemen’s capital, Sana'a, Monday.

The British ambassador, Tim Torlot, was unhurt but two security officials and a bystander were reportedly wounded. Although no claim has been made for the attack, Yemen officials have blamed the attack on the so called al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula group.

“The failed terrorist attack that targeted the British ambassador in Sana‘a carries the fingerprints of al-Qaeda,” the Yemeni interior ministry said in a statement, AP reported. The British embassy in Sana’a was closed on Monday and will remain closed until further notice.

“We advise all British nationals in Yemen to keep a low profile and remain vigilant,” a spokesperson for the British foreign ministry told AP.
