Toyota recall: Around 310,00 FJ Crusier vehicles were recalled by Toyota, the company said.

Toyota Motor Co. initiated a recall of around 310,000 FJ Cruiser SUVs around the world over a seatbelt problem, the company said Friday.

The recall, which affects 2007 through 2013 model year FJ Cruisers, was issued because the retractors for the front passenger and driver seatbelts, which are mounted on the rear door panel, might become detached over time.

“Due to insufficient strength of the rear door panel, cracks may develop over an extended period of time if the rear door is repeatedly and forcefully closed,” the company said in a press release. “If cracks occur in the panel around the lower seatbelt retractor anchor, the seatbelt retractor may become detached.”

The company said no injuries or accidents have been reported because of the issue.

Around 209,000 FJ Cruisers will be recalled in the United States.

Reuters reported that another 101,000 will be recalled around the world, including 52,000 in the Middle East, 16,000 in Canada, 13,000 in South America, 7,000 in Oceania, 5,000 in China, and 3,000 in Africa.

The recall comes nearly two months after the company called back more than 1 million Lexus and Toyota vehicles due to windshield wiper and airbag issues.

Consumers can call the company’s recall center at 800-331-4331 or visit www.toyota.com/recall.
