Three Indicted for Kidnap, Torture, Mutilation of Actor

A Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office announced the indictment of three people accused of kidnapping actress Daisy McCrackin and the kidnapping, torturing, and mutilation of actor Joseph Capone.

A Grand Jury indictment, handed down on June 18 and unsealed on July 3, charges the three with a total of 17 crimes regarding the alleged May 3 kidnapping and associated offences. All three face life in prison.

The grisly incident began shortly before midnight on May 3, when Keith Andre Stewart, 32; Johntae Jones, 25; and Amber Neal, 26, allegedly entered the South Los Angeles home of actress Daisy McCrackin, where actor Joseph Capone was visiting.

According to the Grand Jury indictment, the trio then pistol-whipped Capone.

Shortly after midnight, the trio placed black canvas hoods over the heads of their two victims and dragged them to McCrackin’s car, leaving a trail of Capone’s blood across the crime scene.

The three kidnappers drove their victims to Johntae Jones’ house in Compton.

When they arrived at Jones’ home, Capone tried to fight back to free McCrackin, but was only further beaten and kicked.

Once inside Jones’ home, Capone was stripped and forced into a bathtub, where he was kept for the next 30 hours.

In an apparent effort to coerce McCrackin into providing money for them, the trio decided to torture Capone.

According to the indictment, Keith Stewart  among other acts of mutilation, cut and disabled Capone’s tongue, put one of his eyes out, and slit his nose, ear and lip.

All this harm was inflicted so that the three conspirators could collect $10,000 and a used car.

Horrible Crimes, Minuscule Benefits

While Capone was suffering in the bathtub, Johntae Jones and Amber Neal forced McCrackin back into her 2011 Lexus and drove her to two different Bank of America locations, where they made her withdraw a total of $10,000.

McCrackin was only able to withdraw $100, which she handed over. She also wrote a check to Amber Neal for $10,000.

Neal then forged a change-of-ownership document which claimed that McCrackin gave Neal her 2011 Lexus.

After visiting the banks, Jones and Stewart drove back to McCrackin’s house. McCrackin was able to break free and flee. She called the police and the three conspirators were arrested.

Public Re-Arrest

In a weird twist, Amber Neal was released from custody following her arraignment, despite facing numerous serious felony charges.

Neal was spotted driving a late-model Honda civic through Los Angeles on Monday, July 2, and re-arrested.

Some would-be internet activist videotaped the arrest, and posted it on twitter, complaining about how an unarmed black woman was arrested at gunpoint by five LAPD officers.

After that, the Los Angeles police department responded on Twitter that Neal was under indictment as part of a team of kidnappers and torturers.

The charges against the trio include kidnapping, assault with a firearm, grand theft, mayhem, conspiracy and possession for sale of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, according to an LA District Attorney’s Office press release.

Stewart and Jones both face Life Without the Possibility of Parole if convicted on all counts. Neal faces life in prison.

Bail was set at $2.08 million for Stewart, and $1 million each for Jones and Neal.

All three are scheduled for a pre-trial hearing on July 23.
