With Android’s endless possibilities for customization, all smartphone users can turn their homescreens into a pleasant-looking platform for convenient tools but only with the right applications. Here are some recommendations for the beginning user:

With GO Launcher EX, an Android user can easily increase the number of homescreens; animate the transition between screens, and change new icons for both the screens and the dock. Plus, the app allows scrolling the dock and adding more icons to the it instead of rigidly lining them up on the main body of the screen.

2. Pattern Wallpapers

Simplicity is beauty. Pattern Wallpapers have an extended list of patterns from dots and lines, to classy-looking vintage styles. With a wide range of colors, shapes, and themes, Pattern Wallpapers are perfect for those who frequently change their wallpapers.

3. Analog Clock Collection

Another great freebie out there in the Android Market, the Analog Clock Collection app is pretty much self-explanatory. It comes with a collection of analog clocks, from the basic looking ones to more comic ones. You can add more than one to the same homescreen.

Some other tips: the Android platform actually has a few good widgets. To start with, for example, add a photo with the Picture Frame Widgets. You can activate it by looking for widgets by pressing the “Customize” button.
