The Spring Racing Carnival Increases The Australian Economy

The Spring Racing Carnival is a three month-long world class festival showcasing thoroughbred racing, fashion and entertainment at its finest. The numerous events, racing and entertainment over the course of the festivities will provide a boost to the Australian economy. Visitors will find plenty of horse racing excitement, fabulous fashion and social events at both Victorian city and country tracks. One of the highlights of the carnival is the Melbourne Cup, which is held every year on the first Tuesday in November. Known as the ‘race that stops a nation,’ Melbourne Cup Day is a public holiday in Victoria. The holiday is typically celebrated with luncheons and social events in workplaces and venues around the country.

 From mid-September to mid-November Victoria is gripped by racing fever combining elite racing, fashion, fun and excitement. Visitors can enjoy the fun from Camperdown to Caulfield and Manangatang to Moonee Valley. The Spring Racing Carnival showcases all that is great about Victoria. There are also meetings staged in the capital city of Melbourne and at picturesque country racecourses across Victoria.

 The highlight of the carnival is the Melbourne Cup, known as ‘the race that stops a nation.’ However, the Spring Racing Carnival is more than just the Melbourne Cup. It includes a number of high profile lead up races including the Caulfield Cup and the Cox Plate. There are also many cultural and fashion events during the carnival, and the city streets and laneways buzz with excitement.

Although racing events are held in Australia everyday with the exception of Good Friday and Christmas Day. However, the Group One races in Melbourne are exclusively held during the actual carnival. This takes place between football and cricket seasons. There are quite a few locations like the Sleep & Go Hotel that offer cheap accommodation throughout the Spring Racing Carnival festival.

 The Spring Racing Carnival days are considered colorful, glamorous and exciting. They allow fans to celebrate the racing festivities at a more leisurely pace while enjoying the Victorian countryside. Visitors can also partake in the Spring Racing Carnival’s fashion, gourmet food and fine wines. There are also fun outdoor children activities, entertainment for everyone and of course the action-packed horse races. For this reason, everyone should have the chance to experience the Spring Racing Carnival at least once in their lifetime.
