WASHINGTON—Ms. Mirasol is on staff at the World Bank, and her husband is a special education public school teacher. The two heard from a Chinese George Mason University professor about the Shen Yun Performing Arts show at the Kennedy Center Orchestra House.

Ms. Mirasol wanted to see the Shen Yun performance after she “saw an advertisement about the show on television when we were visiting the mall. I thought it would be interesting to see something cultural about China.”

Therefore, it didn’t take much to convince Mr. Mirasol when he “talked to professor Wan at George Mason University. ”I was amazed with the features. He explained to us what is going to happen. And then I said ‘OK, that must be interesting,’ so I got the tickets.”

Both were glad they made the decision, and Ms. Mirasol said, “Beautiful, worth the time, coming back. I like the cultural aspect of China as I am interested in history and culture. The discipline and the show are great.”

“The show is very educational, about culture and very enriching. It gives you an idea where everything stands. You know about China and other things. It gives you awareness. All the songs and the art.”

Her husband added a few words before leaving, “Especially the Tenor Hong Ming, I was amazed with the voice. Being far from the microphone.” He added, “The show is very classic.”

Ms. Cohen, wife of a diplomat with the U.S. Foreign Service also was impressed with the show and happy to talk about it.

“We just loved the show. It’s gorgeous. It’s a pleasure for the eyes and ears, everything of what one sees. Really wonderful, really. And I will recommend it to my family and my friends because it’s something that nobody should miss.”

She said she learned more about Chinese culture, “The show opens ones mind. It does help looking at certain problems in China in more depth and gain an understanding.”

She added, “Besides, it does show a general picture, and you understand better what is going on, and I find that very useful.”

Shen Yun aims to revive traditional Chinese culture through dance, music, costumes, choreography, and more. “The entire show was a pleasure from one end to the other,” said Ms. Cohen. “This is the first time, but not the last time we will see this performance.”

She added, “I had the most wonderful evening, and it’s a show that I recommend to my family and my friends because nobody should miss this.”
