A 16-year old boy was arrested by Dutch authorities for allegedly participating in a hacker operation targeting websites of companies that stopped services to WikiLeaks.
The boy was arrested by the Team High Tech crime in The Hague, the Netherlands, according to a statement by the national prosecutors office.
“The cyberattacks led yesterday quickly to the identification of the suspect,” according to the statement.
The boy's computer has been confiscated. The boy remains in jail appearing before a judge on Friday.
Among the websites attacked by the hackers that support WikiLeaks are Visa and MasterCard.
Both companies announced earlier this week that they would suspend payment methods for donations to WikiLeaks.
