Fancy a job in Korea? The Korean Consulate in Canada is offering scholarships to native English speakers to teach English in Korea starting February 2009.

The offer is open to undergraduate students who have two or more years’ university education and college/university graduates.

The TaLK (Teach and Learn in Korea) program includes teaching English to elementary school students for three hours a day—weekends off--and allows time to study by correspondence.

The job comes with perks too: free roundtrip airfare and free housing for the duration of the contract, with a choice of either personal accommodation (apartment, dormitory or studio-type room) or homestay.

The pay is 1,500,000 KRW (approximately $1,500 USD) per month after the first month of training and orientation is completed. Contracts are six months or one year and medical insurance is provided.

Also included are “cultural experience programs” in which students can learn Korean and take part in a variety of activities that will allow them to experience Korean culture.

Those who participate in the program and already have their degree will qualify for full-time teaching programs in Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand and other countries.

The offer is open to Koreans residing overseas and native English speakers from Canada, Australia, New Zealand, U.K and U.S.
