Nine people were injured after an explosion at a supermarket at Wentworthville in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday morning.

The building on Station Street has collapsed, and rescue workers are working on getting people out from under the rubble.

Two men and seven police officers suffered injuries; all are in stable condition in a hospital, reported the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

The explosion happened around 4:30 a.m.

“Fire crews quickly tried to enter the building, unfortunately they were forced back due to the flames and structural integrity of the building as it was falling down around them,” he said.“Fire crews have now surrounded the building and prevented it spreading to other adjoining buildings. The affected building has however totally collapsed.”

Two people are missing inside the building.

Nearby shops are damaged from the explosion.
